Adventure sports in the outdoors as a complement to fieldwork, or perhaps simply to enhance skills, teambuilding, or to help you achieve a specific objective. We can provide small group instruction at a range of venues in the UK.
Rock climbing has had surge of interest in the past few years, specifically as a result of more indoor walls becoming available. We can offer a taster sessions, indoor climbing, or a transition to outdoor climbing. These courses may be run in conjunction with other activities or in their own right depending on your needs. Courses are run on a small group basis to ensure adequate supervision.
This session covers the basics of safety and how to move on rock without a lot of unnecessary technical information. Students are coached at their natural level and introduced to techniques that will help them to progress. All equipment is provided. These sessions may be held in the North West near to Preston or in the Lake District.
Progress your indoor climbing to the next level with coaching on technique and training for success. As with the taster sessions these are run at climbing walls, and all equipment is provided or you may bring your own.
Transition to rock
Having learned on indoor walls, a lot of climbers are put off by the transition to outdoor rock. Having experienced real rock however you won’t look back! We can help you make the transition as painlessly(!) as possible by helping with route choice, backup and safety coaching. Come on – Make the step outdoors!.
Mountainwalking, camp craft , and navigation skills
Mountain walking is a many faceted adventure sport combining outdoor exercise with the mental discipline of navigation. For many, pushed into inadequately equipped forays in the rain, it can be a miserable experience. Come to us to learn how to make your mountain walking fun, safe and above all enjoyable.
We can teach you the basics of camp craft so you don’t wind up wearing wet clothes day after day, advise on equipment selection, introduce safe ways to deal with cooking, and increase your awareness of navigation.
For Duke of Edinburgh gold level expeditions we can provide mountain leader cover, and help with expedition planning and hazard assessment. If you are planning a wild country expedition we can help you to sort out the equipment and training issues.
Leaders for these sessions hold as a minimum Summer mountain walking qualifications and are comprehensively insured.
Use as a reward session or build into a multi activity week – archery is a centuries old discipline of mental and physical strength. Contact us for details of how we can add archery to your school residential stays or fieldwork, team building or team reward days. All equipment is provided, and basic safety training is followed by strictly controlled shooting. All staff leading archery have the Archery GB Leader award and comprehensive public liability insurance.
